When federal agencies closed Robert Bennett’s employer, the act forced him to file bankruptcy. As he and his wife began rebuilding their lives, regular dental check-ups became luxuries they couldn’t afford. So when Robert began losing teeth, he sought help from the Sgt. Clint Ferrin Memorial Clinic hosted by the UNLV School of Dental Medicine.
Supported by the school’s dean, Dr. Karen West, the clinic’s student and faculty dentists restored Robert’s oral health. And thanks to Robert’s veteran status, he was able to secure a full set of dentures at no cost. Robert is now a regular patient, and hasn’t stopped smiling.
UNLV School of Dental Medicine is the only four-year, fully accredited school of dental medicine in Nevada, offering seven academic degree programs. The school coordinates and conducts ten community clinics each year that offer services to children, homeless persons, veterans, those re-entering the workforce and those with special needs.
